Need help in conducting Requirements Workshop

Hello All. I am new to BA community and seeking your help here.

One of our clients is looking to build a platform where individuals can file their Income Tax Returns and Invest in Mutual funds. They do not have any documentation about their requirements. So as a BA I was asked to visit client place to conduct a requirement workshop to gather requirements and document them.

This is going to be my First Ever Workshop, so need your inputs on How to conduct this workshop, what type of Requirements should I gather, What type of questions should I ask. Please help me on this.

Appreciate your help - Raj

Re: Need help in conducting Requirements Workshop

The simplest way to run a workshop, especially since you aren't 100 percent on what to ask just yet is to have a modeling session of some kind. It's the easiest to do from scratch, and as long as you don't pick to strict of a modeling technique, you can have an easy flowing conversation where the questions will emerge as you go.

Since you might not be aware of the specifics yet, asking questions like "What else is impacted by this?" "Who is impacted by this?", or "Why is this important?" will help you draw out information and keep the conversation flowing.
