 Lectures on Oct 8 (Tue), Oct 10 (Thu), Oct 15 (Tue) and Oct 17 (Thu) will be cancelled.
 Makeup lectures will be held on Sep 28 (Sat) and Oct 19 (Sat), both at LSB LT2 during 9:30am  12:15pm.
 No tutorial class in the first week.
 Midterm 1 will be held from 7:30pm at LSB LT6 on Oct 11th (Fri), and covers will be up to Topic 6 (inclusive) of the course lectures; see the Review PDF [Download file]

 24 Nov: The grades of this course are determined according to the completed continuous assessment including 8 homework assignments and 1 midterm exam. Thereby the grades are computed by the formula [(H1+H2+…+H8)/8+M1*20%]*(100/30). The final grades will be discussed and approved in the assessment panel, and further will be announced in due course according to the arrangement of the university.

Course Description
This course is a continuation of Linear Algebra I (MATH 1030). It is a second course on linear algebra and will cover basic concepts of abstract vector spaces, linear transformations, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, diagonalizability, operators on inner product spaces, orthogonality and GramSchmidt process, adjoint, normal and selfadjoint operators, spectral theorems, and if time permits, quadratic forms and Jordan canonical forms. More emphasis will be put on the theoretical understanding of basic concepts in linear algebra.
