BA With Prince2 or ISEB

Hello Experts,

Please part me if i am posting something unusual to all. recently i have made up mind to jump into BA role as i have been working as implementation consultant - (ERP solution).. roughly all my activities are similar to BA but formaly i am not a Business Analyst.

I would like to tight my seat belt and for that somebody suggested me to go for Prince2 certification but it seems one of the ISEB certification is more relevant because initially i will be assisting the project but not managing.

Please suggest which combination is highly selling.

BA + Prince2 or BA + Any of ISEB Certification.

Anticipating your suggestions with some proofing.

Cheers !!

Re: BA With Prince2 or ISEB

Hi,

I am not an expert but here are my thoughts anyway.

I don't know what country you are in and I don't know what you are looking to achieve through certification.

If you are looking to be a full time BA then I suggest you review the job market in the countries you are looking at and assess what common criteria are used to initially select candidates. Assess what criteria are mandatory and which are optional for your ideal jobs. You have now analysed the requirements for your CV!

You now need to design your CV so that it satisfies the requirements.

If your ideal jobs are looking for BA+PM go for Prince 2. If they are looking for BA+ISEB go for that. If it is a mixture go for both.

In the UK most employers look for relevant experience in the BA field in the idustry the employer operates in - ISEB and Prince 2 are only ever desireable at most in my experience. A frequent requirement is a university degree (for no rational reason but that is employers for you!). I have yet to see a job that references CBAP (the IIBA BA certification).

Hope that helps.

Guy

Hi,

Ok so you are in the uk...the rest of my comments still apply I think based on the fact that Prince2 is a PM qulification and ISEB a BA qualification. Which do you want to be or is it a combination?

If you are looking to be a full time BA then I suggest you review the job market here in the uk (e.g. jobserve) and assess what common criteria are used to initially select candidates. Assess what criteria are mandatory and which are optional for your ideal jobs. You have now analysed the requirements for your CV!

You now need to design your CV so that it satisfies the requirements.

If your ideal jobs are looking for BA experience plus PM qualifications go for Prince 2. If they are looking for BA exoerience and ISEB qualifications go for that. If it is a mixture go for both.

You'll have to do some research and apply analysis to the results to determin the best course for you...

Hope that helps,

Guy
