Relation between "First time Register" & "login" use cases

1. can i indicate on the use case diagram that the "first time Register" use case extends the "login" use case?

2. and on the use case document to indicates that the "First Time Register" use case is an exception to the "llogin" use cases.

 John,

1. the convention in a use case diagram is to have an extends connection with an arrow going from the extending use case to the original use case. The connection is marked with a stereotype of <<extends>>.

2. In the use case you need to define an extension point. It isn't an exception.

thanks for th r reply, actually i meant by the first point " if it is right to assume that use case(register) is an extension to the user case (login) , or they should be two seperated use cases?"

 John,

Either works really. Depends how granular you want to be. Register can extend Login as a separate use case or it can be an alternate path in Login if you wish.

Grandma June was as great a cook as she was a teacher to me. She never followed a recipe “to...
