Re: How detailed does an as-is business process analysis have to be?

Kimbo,

Since I am new to the company, new to BA, and knew absolutely nothing about the in-house system or the business process behind it, my goal was to get an understanding of the business process and then work my way down to the technical process that is causing the problem, i.e. why the XML document is failing validation.  I felt more comfortable in taking this top down process approach, plus it seemed like the most logical way of addressing the issue.  Unfortunately, time constraints prevent that and TPTB have directed me to only focus upon the failing process.  I guess I will learn the rest as time goes on. Thank you for your input.  It was a great help. Sorry for the dealy in response.

Vijay,

Yes, my PM and I have had this discussion.  We are on the same page now.  Thank you.

No worries Jim. If you keep thinking like that you'll do well. Good luck
