Requirement analysis to design and development using UML approch.

Hi Everybody!

I have came accross numerous books regarding UML and requirements,

for those who want to know about the practical approach towards requirement analysis

to application design and development must read the book titled:

"Use Case Driven Object Modeling with UML" by Dough Rosenberg & Matt Stephens.

This is very much helpful for Business Analyst who are using UML ,from my prespective &

one of the interesting book I came across.

Can anybody suggest  articles and other useful categories regarding business analyst!

Regards,

Kumar Rohit

I just picked up that book from Amazon.  I've only read a few pages, but I really like the writing style.  I am looking forward to sitting down with it in the next few weeks.

Hello all,

I have mixed feelings about UML as means of documenting Requirements. I see it primarily as a tool for modeling software; in fact, I have had experienced OO developers tell me that I as a BA should not be doing UML models, that UML was their tool. I also still have a copy of an earlier book about using UML for Business Modeling that I could never get through.

Now, I am just expressing my opinion here, and I am also a strong believer in that if any particular method or tool works for you, then power to you. So, if anyone wants to describe how UML works for them in doing Requirements work, I would love to read it.

While I agree that just using Activity Diagrams, Sequence Diagrams, and Class Diagrams it is very hard to model requirements, unless of course you're into self-punishment.

Having said that, I found this book to be very good!  The title may be a bit misleading as it also includes how to solution.  The book advocates using use case models and use case specifications (detailed use case descriptions) do model requirements.
