About the Office of Human Resources:
Universities with the best talent will always rise to the top. And so finding, developing, and supporting that talent should be among an organization’s most important tasks. In Human Resources, our role is to help the Institute recognize people as strategic contributors. We also help our senior executives craft innovative strategies that allow them to utilize our employee’s talents to advance the Institute’s mission, and to build our international brand and reputation.

We are the people unit. We serve Georgia Tech in a wide variety of ways - ranging from helping managers to identify new talent and hire new employees, to growing and developing our employees through exceptional professional education. We help bring new members of our university community into the institution, and help each to get oriented and prepared. We help to ensure that the Institute’s more than 6,000 employees are paid correctly and on time. And we are available to help when there are challenges. We support employees and managers in addressing complex workplace problems – whether they are matters of structure and organization, or interpersonal.

What we do:

We onboard (our word for orient or begin careers for) new employees. Each month we identify, select, and onboard approximately forty new employees.
We process payroll and maintain employment data for 11,000 active faculty, staff, and students. We process more than $500 million in gross salaries and ensure the accuracy of 13,000 direct deposits or paychecks a month.
We administer, manage, and grow a variety of employee benefit plans.
We support Georgia Tech’s international employees. We advise and counsel roughly 2,000 international faculty, staff, and student employees regarding immigration and taxation.
We maintain a market-driven compensation structure in order to attract and retain employees.
We advise employees and managers regarding work performance and conflict management.
We provide professional development and training courses and offer career development services to the Institute’s diverse workforce.

Position Description:
Provide liaison services between functional user and technical systems groups in the development or modification of information systems. Defines user business requirements and assure they are appropriately addressed in application implementation.

Major Responsibilities to Include:
•Document and analyze user business processes and requirements; identify solutions.
•Develop specifications and test plans associated with system development or modification.
•Confer with and provide support to technical group in systems development.
•Conduct testing of new or modified systems.
•Serve as communications link between user and technical group.
•Prepare reports and other documentation related to system assignments.
•Provide ongoing user support including troubleshooting and resolution of system issues.
•Perform other related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business or IT related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Work Experience: Four to five years job related experience.
Skills: This job requires a working knowledge of standard documentation processes, business system architecture and associated technologies. Skills in data organization and analysis, problem solving, systems documentation and report writing as applied within assigned system(s) is required as are skills in cross communication between functional user and technical groups.

Qualifications
Additional task may include:
•Analyze and implement PeopleSoft Human Resource/Payroll tax updates/patches & fixes
•Functional project lead during HCM upgrades
•Working collaboratively with the HR Business Analysts, the OIT department on projects and campus units
•Assist with the processing of bi-weekly & monthly payrolls
•Develop ad-hoc reports

Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred Education: Bachelors in Information Technology or related field
Preferred Work Experience:5+ years of payroll processing
Preferred Certifications:
Preferred Skills: PeopleSoft 8.9+, SQL, Access
