Their main focus should be on ensuring that the BA Function is seen to add value to the Business. Analyst Heads would operate be expected to operate at strategic,pan programme level and manage all aspects of business/systems analysis for the largest and most complex projects including those with ill defined scope. They would develop and suggest suitable solutions on complex and high profile Business Programmes utilising their specialist knowledge of analysis and associated tools, techniques and methods.
Their primary focus would be around Relationship Management - Providing consultancy and analysis to clients and also in terms of Project Delivery, suggesting, presenting and justifying appropriate solutions to complex problems. They should always consider the strategic impact on business plans of these proposed solutions.
I suppose the main thing for the role is to have an overall perspective on the BA Function and strive to make sure it remains relevant to the Business and to lead the BA team by their professional example.
