The Business Systems Analyst Role

High-level definition of the Business Systems Analyst role

Business Systems Analyst title is most commonly used to refer to the analysis professional whose responsibilities start with requirements gathering and end with functional/technical specs.

For the most part “Business Systems Analyst” = “IT Business Analyst” + “Systems Analyst”.

Experienced Business Systems Analysts tend to have both strong business domain knowledge and extensive competencies in systems analysis and design.

Other common titles for this role are: Requirements Engineer, IT Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, Business Analyst (generic term), etc.

Experience and Skills Required:

· Minimum two years of investment operations or securities data management

· Strong fixed-income product knowledge, particularly bank loans, CLO’s, CDO’s variable rates securities, derivatives and fixed income securities

· Hedge fund or private equity experience is a plus



Computer Skills:

· Knowledge of Thomson’s Portia system, CDO Suite and BB Trading is a plus

· Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel – knowledge of formulae a must (e.g.

· “vlookup”)

· Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word

· Working knowledge of Microsoft Access or other databases a plus

· Basic knowledge of Bloomberg

· Knowledge of BB API a big plus
