Hello Guys - I'm a fresh Business Analyst

Hello Guys,

I just joined a company as Jr. Business Analyst. but I don't know much more about this profession.

So If anyone can help me with some of the initial ideas of this job role then I will be very thankful to them.

Thanks,

Dilip G

Re: Hello Guys - I'm a fresh Business Analyst

Hi Dilip,

Welcome to the Modern Analyst community!

I'll be honest with you: you won't become a strong business analyst by simply joining a forum.  Since you are junior you need to learn as much as you can from as many sources as possible (and keep on learning forever).

Here are some ideas:

  • Network with other business analysts  (you can find them at your local IIBA chapter),
  • Find a Senior Business Analyst in your organization who might be willing to mentor and coach you.

heyI appreciate the concern which is been interviews. The things need to be sorted out because it is about the individual but it can be with everyone.

Re: Hello Guys - I'm a fresh Business Analyst

Hi Dilip,

Business analysts have some of the most exciting roles in the growing software development and information technology industry. There are at least four tiers of business analysts:

1. Planning Strategically - The analysis of the organization of business strategic needs.

2. Operating/Business model analysis - the definition and analysis of the organization’s policies and market business approaches.

3. Process definition and design - the business process modeling.

4. IT/Technical business analysis - the interpretation of business rules and requirements for technical systems.

Here are some of the best reference books which could provide a guide in business analysis:

- The Business Analyst’s Book

- The Business Analyst's Handbook by Howard Podeswa

It would be helpful to meet with some expert business analyst pros.
