As you are already an application developer, you can easily switch to QA department in the same field (software development).

A QA needs to be a perfect developer first. Having a grip over the programming, you also need some quality management ethics to monitor and control the development departments. You should be creative, sensible such to quickly understand the needs of the client and the project aswell. In this way you can both go towards a better production and team efforts ultimately.
