Airport Process Mapping & use of WoW

Hi everyone,
In my new project I am mapping airport processes and I have decided to start with Airport Operations. I was wondering if I could get some help for this on internet but it couldn’t happened.
Again for information gathering I am planning for a Wall of Wonder (WoW, which I got from modernanalyst.com) session but I have some serious doubts about its successful completion.
Waiting for your replies.

Re: Airport Process Mapping & use of WoW

Some suggestions for Step 1

  • Try using the business model template provided by Alex Osterwalder to see if you can clearly identify a holistic vision of the product
  • Draft/workshop a bunch of airport user personas to ehlp you get a set of user types for whatever you are building
  • Book an hour with your project manager and brainstorm a set of user stories (look "user stories" up at mountaingoatsoftware.com.)

This will set you up with an initial frame of reference to work with. Let us kow how you go.

What exactly are your goals for using WoW?  Is it to get an overview of all the major processes in airport operations?  Who will your facilitation group include?  How many of them are there?

I find WoW works welll if you have a group of 8+ people that cover off all the functional areas you have to assess.  With smaller groups I would suggest more traditional brainstorming or scenario-driven techniques (e.g. start with the air traffic controllers and say "What do you do in a typical day?"), as I find WoW is best used to help consolidate a vast quantity of thoughts and suggestions from a large group into a manageable set of information.
