
Core Members are business systems analysis practitioners who are committed to the success and advancement of the Modern Analyst community and the profession as a whole.
Core Members play a key role in shaping the future direction of ModernAnalyst.com community and portal. They actively participate in site enhancements through feedback, feature design, and implementation of new ideas. Core Members may also take a leadership role in the various on-going projects and initiatives aimed at making ModernAnalyst.com the “The One-Stop-Shop for the Business Systems Analyst!” and the premier on-line community for industry practitioners.
Core Member Benefits
Besides being actively involved in the advancement of the business analysis profession, core members enjoy a variety of benefits. Here are a few of the benefits that core members may enjoy.
- Showcase Your Core Member Status - Display the core member designation on your website, blog, resume, or as an email or forum signature. You can display it wherever it benefits you the most. Additionally, a core member avatar will automatically appear in the Modern Analyst Forums.
- Featured on the Core Members Page - You or your company will benefit from the increased exposure of being featured along with other core members on the core members page.
- Personalized E-mail Forward - Set yourself apart with a Modern Analyst email address (ex: John.Smith@ModernAnalyst.com).
- Spotlighted on the Modern Analyst Homepage - For at least one week out of the year you, or your company, will be spotlighted on the Modern Analyst homepage for all to see. Core members must provide copy to be approved by Modern Analyst.
- Membership Verification - Include the dates of your active core membership on your resume, or wherever else you choose to display, and prospective employers and interested parties can verify your status by sending an e-mail to membership@ModernAnalyst.com. Simply include the member’s first and last name as well as the dates of membership.
- Co-branded Products and Offerings - Collaborate with Modern Analyst to create co-branded products and other materials that can be offered to the Modern Analyst community such as: white papers, webinars, guides, books, etc.
- Create Your Own Benefits - If there are other ways that you believe Modern Analyst can help you achieve your goals let us know. We might just be able to help you out.
Together with our core members, Modern Analyst will continue to increase and expand the benefits available to all core members.
Who can become a Core Member?
If you are involved in business systems analysis (as an analyst, trainer, recruiter, vendor, professor, student, etc.) you are encouraged to apply to become a core member of the Modern Analyst community.
While there are only a limited number of core member positions available and while we generally look for experienced practitioners, if you have unique skills, background, or ideas to help improve the Modern Analyst community we would definitely use your help.
If you wish to become a core member, send an e-mail to membership@ModernAnalyst.com and include the following information:
- your first name, last name, organization, and role (business analyst, recruiter, etc.),
- your modern analyst user name (to give you access to features available to core members only),
- a brief bio of who you are and your experience with business systems analysis,
- explanation of why you want to become a core member and the types of skills and knowledge you bring to the table which would improve the Modern Analyst community,
- a few sample ideas of what suggestions you might have to improve the usefulness of ModernAnalyst.com to business systems analysts,
- desired e-mail address @ModernAnalyst (generally your user name) as well as the address for e-mail forward if that's what you desire.
Core Member Responsibilities
General responsibilities expected of the core members include:
- improve and increase the resources and features offered to the community,
- act professionally and responsibly,
- accept responsibility and deliver assigned tasks successfully,
- stay actively engaged with the community and assist others via forums, comments, etc.,
- represent the Modern Analyst community consistent with the assigned roles and projects.
In additional to the general responsibilities, each core member helps with other projects and tasks as appropriate to each individual's skills, knowledge, and background.

- On a yearly basis, each core member is evaluated for their contributions and fulfillment of their responsibilities. The core member designation is not for life.
- The usual and customary disclaimers apply: Modern Analyst reserves the right to discontinue a core member without cause or reason. However - we are reasonable so we don't plan on having to enforce this.
- Modern Analyst reserves the right to turn down a core member application without cause or reason - though, if time allows, we will always try to provide you with adequate feedback.
