Life After BA

Ok here's the thing.....I am fed up of being a BA.

nearly 11 years as a BA and I can honestly say, I feel I am coming to the end of it. I no longer find it interesting, I'm bored with IT.....

What alternative careers are out there for BA's? Has anyone known of BA's to leave the comfort zone in search of alternative careers?

Re: Life After BA

 Me too Bernard.

My wife left a career as a BA and became an image consultant. Set up her own website and stuff.

I'm thinking about chucking it in and working as a waiter in the local cafes where I live.

Guess it depends on what other skills you have that people want.

I'm very curious to hear other people's suggestions.

 Hi K,

Only just spotted your reply. Good luck with it mate. All power to you.

I'm about to start a new part time thing. I'm hoping it may become full time eventually.

Kimbo

P.S. Did a project at a corporate counselling service supplier a few years back. Great people and interesting work.

Re: Life After BA

Kimbo:

As the current headline article on this web site points out, Business Analysis is very immature - we need to grow up.   As we get older we need to move away from sillyness and "get real".  So I would not blame anyone who feels a deep need to get out of Business Analysis.

I myself spend alot of time on my side business:  Money Management.  Reason:  Old saying "Money talks and BS walks".

As Business Analysts in Agile teams, we often hear about Definition of Ready (DOR) and Definition of Done (DOD). But beyond the buzzwords, these two concepts are powerful tools to drive clarity, consistency, and quality in our work. Definition of Ready ensures a user story is truly ready for development. It answers: Is this story clear, feasible...
In today's fast-paced digital world, successful projects aren't just built on great code—they're built on clarity. And that clarity often comes from one key player: the Business Analyst. At the heart of every great product or system is a need—a business goal, a customer pain point, or a regulatory requirement. But busines...
I have always loved cooking. I learned from my Grandma June and her kitchen was her sanctuary, a small, warm sunlit space filled with jars of spices, stacks of cookbooks, and the comforting smell of something always on the stove or baking in the oven. Grandma June was as great a cook as she was a teacher to me. She never followed a recipe “to...
