San Diego, CA – October 15, 2009 – BP Logix, a provider of web-based business process automation and reporting solutions, today announced that NORESCO, a national leader in energy savings, selected BP Logix Workflow Director as part of its core infrastructure. The product provides NORESCO with a workflow and business process-specific platform, as well as an automated electronic forms system. Workflow Director enables NORESCO to expedite and streamline its processes, including its invoicing system, reducing that process from days to hours.
As a leading U.S. energy services company, NORESCO specializes in the development, design, construction, financing and operation of energy and environmental efficiency projects, performance contracting and central energy plants. NORESCO clients include federal agencies, public housing agencies, school districts, universities, state and local governments and industrial and commercial businesses. In November 2008 Carrier Corp., the world’s largest provider of heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration solutions, and a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX), acquired NORESCO. The acquisition adds to Carrier’s commitment to environmental leadership. Carrier Corp. is headquartered in Farmington, Conn. with operations in more than 170 countries.
Chris Johnston, Director of Information Systems for NORESCO, is responsible for technology systems infrastructure as well as supporting all employees accessing these systems. As part of a shared services group until two years ago, Johnston and his team were originally able to access software from NORESCO’s former parent corporation. As a result of divesting, however, it became necessary for them to create their own system and business processes. Johnston was given a challenging goal: five months to transition off of a shared services platform, create his own infrastructure and migrate 4.5 gigabytes of historical accounting data to a system of his choice.
“We had five months to move 4.5 gigs of data of invoices, notes and comments. That database is now 12+ gigabytes, and we use it more every day,” Johnston observed. “When it was just an invoicing system, we invoiced a fair amount. Now, however, we use Workflow Director for other workflows and expect our usage to continue expanding into other areas.”
