Qualifications for BA with 1-2 years experience

Hi all

I am looking to go on a training course to improve my BA skills + provide an official qualification - I have worked as a BA for roughly 1-2 years (had varied work over the last 3 years). I have never been on a BA course and unsure what course would suit my needs. Does anyone have any advice on where to start? Thanks.

Not sure what you exactly mean by a qualification.   There are some universities who provide on line training, almost like a mini masters degree in the craft of business analysis.

I think University of Villanova has an offering along with a few of the other east coast Universities.  You get a formalized certificate after you complete 2 - 3 classes I believe.  Not sure of the price, but you could get some additional resume fodder along with some training.

Thanks v lookup

by qualification I guess I was looking for any course which would improve my business analysis understanding whilst being credible in the IT industry. It seems to me as there are not any courses as well known as say Prince2 for Project management etc.

I will give that online course a check.

Re: Qualifications for BA with 1-2 years experience

Most of those courses, from what I can tell, align with IIBA or CMMI or some other governing body / framework.  Just as the collegiate project management courses usually align with PMI here in the states, I am assuming Prince 2 in other countries.

They have some really neat courses on line, however I am pretty thrifty and back about 5 years ago went crazy and spent about 5,000 on ITIL and PMI certifications.  Now I am very adverse to certificates and function more on the technical side of things.

Either way good luck, hopefully you find something that aligns.

I would try to find some free on line training, maybe reach out to a vendor who provides training and see if they will let you sit for a course for free.  Tell them you are interested but you want to try before you buy.  Just saying......  ;)
