Entity Relationship Diagram

Hello All,

Does Business Analyst draws the entity relationship diagram or a Data base Analyst does?

Re: Entity Relationship Diagram

With the increased popularity of UML, most business analysts tend to use a Class Diagram to model business entities and their relationships.  The entity relationship diagram is a tool used by the Data Analysts/Modelers to model the physical structure of a relational database.

Having said that, I'm sure there are many business analysts and systems analysts who create E-R diagrams.

There is some info in Section 5 of the IIBA's BABOK (you can download it for free at www.theiiba.org.)

You can also look up UML standards at OMG's site for UML (www.uml.org)

The OMG site is the definitive standard for UML.  The BABOK is a leading resource for BAs.
