BABOKv1.6

Hi All,

My question is mainly directed at experienced BA's.

I've just started reading the BABOK and it specifes 6 knowledge areas. What I would like to know is - Can a BA specialise in one of those or would he/she have to be well versed on all of them?

Re: BABOKv1.6

Hi TshegoP,

A BA would need to have techniques for extracting all types of knowledge from people who generate requirements (for example, explicit knowlege can be got by 1:1 interview, tacit information can not easily by got by interview - better to get someone to show you how they do the process you are analysing or learn to do it your self. Example of explicit information: the information needed to be captured for an order for a bouquet of flowers. Example of tacit information: how to make a bouquet of flowers. One can be easily explained verbally and one can't.)
