Tips for presenting a recommendation on new vs current system
Modified By Chris Adams on 10/22/2024 10:36:06 AM)

Hi all

Looking for some ideas to help facilitate a proposal / discussion.   The overarching question from client is "is the system we have now fit for purpose or do we need another?"

Appreciate you wont know the detail but Im looking for ideas on areas for comparison.

I have looked into current pain points and the clients requirements and the current system could almost certainly be extended to support them.   Im obviously aware COST will be a factor.   TIME to deliver these changes would be another.   Im hoping some of you great analysts have some tips on framing such a comparison / decision :)

To help you make a fair comparison, here are some factors to consider:

  • Cost: Compare the current cost of the system to the cost of replacing or upgrading. Don’t forget to factor in implementation, maintenance, and training costs.
  • Time to Deliver: Evaluate the time it will take to update the current system versus deploying a new system.
  • Scalability: Can the current system meet future requirements, or will the new system have an advantage in this regard?
  • Integration: Compare the ability of the new system to integrate with existing tools and processes.
  • Risk & Stability: Evaluate the risks of continuing to use the old system versus moving to the new system, especially in terms of stability and security.
