upgrading existing Web Application

We have decided to completely redesign and refactor an existing web application.  I am interested to know if anyone has done this before and how they went about it.

We will be engaging users to find out what they would like to see in terms of UI but I would like to know how to go about changes to workflow etc?

Thanks.

Re: upgrading existing Web Application

Hello Heavydee,

Stated below is a high-level summary of the approach that we had adopted when redesigning our app.

I was involved in redesigning our app which involved from turning it from high-touch to low/medium-touch app. The app in question was B2B. To begin with, we identified the total number of user touch points for each functionality and arrived at a conclusion to reduce them to a set number so as not to compromise on functionality or user experience. Thereafter, we created a workflow diagram for each of the functionality. Next step was to create mock-ups/wire-frames that alongside writing user stories. We had identified a pilot of group of users to whom we gave a demo of the new workflow / mock-ups. This exercise resulted in receiving good feedback from the users which enabled us to make necessary changes to the workflow and mock-ups as deemed appropriate by the team.

Kind Regards,

Hims

Yes. we have worked on similar web applications before. We are a chatbot development company and have created several UI workflows. The basic things that you need to keep in mind before designing a UI workflow is:

Defining the business need.
Conducting research and gaining insights.
Analyze research and ideate.
Creating information architecture & user flows.
Lo-fi prototyping.
Hi-fi prototyping.
Testing.

If you have any concerns related to this, respond to the comment and I can help you.
