Hi Wendy,
Good advice from Larimar. I haven't looked at his linked info, so hopefully he covered questions you could ask the interviewers. But in case he didn't I just want to add a few simple questions that I always ask the interviewers:
Good luck with the search
Kimbo
Hi Kimbo, Thanks for responding to my query. I appreciate your input and yes, I agree with you, I took similar approach even when I been interviewed for QA positions. But I needed help in getting an idea of the kind of questions (domain/project specific) that interviewer would ask a potential BA candidate.
Say, if you are interviewing me for a BA position and my recent project was a (web based collaborative+ scheduling+ alerting+ reporting+ management) tool, what kind of questions do you want to ask me to test my BA skills.
I want to change my mindset from QA perception to BA, so that I can live up to the challenges that I face in day to day BA life.
Thanks Again,
-Wendy.
Here's a link to the post: 6 Traits of Great Business Analysts (and how to interview for them)
Wendy,
If I interviewed you in that situation I'd set you a short test. I'd give you a narrative of about one page and ask you to extract the functionality from it. In fact I'd be asking you to identify the actors, the use cases, maybe even the process. As a BA you should be able to do that easily.
Waw Jarett, thats a wonderful post. The way you explained the BA traits along with interviewer ways of testing these skills in the candidates is awasome. The language used is simple and straight forward.
Can you please post any articles on requirement elicitation, as I believe capturing the right requirements directly reflect the success of the project.
Typically what is the percent of the time and resources are alloted for requierment elicitation to the total project time. I believe only 20% of time and resources are alloted for requirements- gathering and analyses and major time and resources are consumed in developing and executing the code. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks again Jarett for all your input. I greatly appreciate all your help.
