composite activity in an activity diagram
Modified By ventodimare on 10/12/2010 2:19:53 PM)

Good morning, I need to design an activity diagram (example attached). In the example there is a composite activity (FC) at the top of the page: this activity reaches 2 possible final states (send email, raise an alarm). Should I report the output of this activity (send email, raise an alarm) in the external main diagram (second example) or should I just write a draw like the one in the third example? Thank you. Have a nice day

You have obviously simplified this example, which is ok.  But the question yoiu need to ask yourself is, "do I need to do anything after I send the email or the alert, and are those actions different depending on the outcome".  If so, then your higher level diagram will need to know the result of the lower level diagram.
