Re: Is this a BA Job or No?

There are Business Analysts (BA), System Analysts (SA) and Business System Analysts (BSA) ... many companies when advertising for a BA want a BSA.

A Business Analyst primarily documents and gathers the "Business Requirements" and creates the Business Requirements Document (BRD), this is End-User needs. A technical knowledge is usually not needed.

A Systems Analyst takes the "Business Requirements" and provides technical teams (Developers, Testers, etc.) with the "Functional Requirements Document" (FRD). They dig into the details of how the "Business Requirement" might actually be implemented in code. A technical knowledge is needed to understand the systems.

Many times you will see an ad looking for a BA with knowledge of Java or Oracle and you wonder what they want ... a BA or BSA.

Names vary around the world for the same work.

Looks like a Technical BA role to me based on the last sentence about SQL queries and scripting language.. and frankly it may be a developer role. Cause that kind of knowledge is very techie.

If you have those skills go for it. In this market its hard to be too selective.

Grandma June was as great a cook as she was a teacher to me. She never followed a recipe “to...
