From Tech Support to BA...Where do I go from here?

I have almost two decades in electronics maintenance and computer tech support.  I have worked for the last several years as an IT contractor/consultant, but am lokking for a change as the competition in this area is getting bad all over (people starting their own "businesses" that know little about the field). I have an Associates degree in Networking and am working on a BS in Business Technology Managment from Regis University.

I guess my question becomes where do I start? I have no idea where to even start redoing my resume or where and what types of jobs to look for. IT positions where I am at are few and far between (mostly state government), with a great amount of competition, and I am overqualified for a lot of them.

I was thinking along the lines of Business or Management analysis. Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: From Tech Support to BA...Where do I go from here?

Being a BA is also a highly competitive field.

Watch some of the free webinars from here.  Listen to some of the available podcat's mentioned here.

Recast your resume with a "headline" sentence rather than a simple "Business Analyst" frame it as something like this: "

High Energy Business Professional  looking for a dynamic company to benefit from my extensive technical and client support experience, preferably in a business analyst, project coordinator, or similar role.

..."  Can't get bold to turn off.  The other thing dice recommends is an IT skill section.

Check out: www.dice.com for resume help in the forum.

Anyway, you need both the desire to become a BA and above average communcations and sales skills (all of which can be learned with training and practice, for most people).

Hope this Helped.
