Re: how to become a system analyst

Boukmn,

What a versatile career! If you examine your career closely, you’ll find that you excel at certain things (a thread), which is common to your teaching, business owner and QA careers.

For example, I’m of similar vintage as Tony; I’ll be 54 in a few months and I’m an analyst/designer – analytical/problem solver. I majored in maths/applied maths as an undergraduate; again you see this analysis/problem solver thread. Hence, I have a chequered career in disciplines such as building drawings, science teacher, analyst/programmer, enterprise architecture, business analysis, instructor/trainer, management consulting and psychology/counselling. The analytical/problem solver thread is self-evident in some, that why I’m not your administrator type; it’s just plain boring.

So, find what your thread (supply) in life is and who needs your skills (demand). Then seek jobs in the demand domain. The current economic climate may reduce some opportunities but persevere and you’ll be successful.

Warm regards,
K
