Class Diagram help needed

Hi Everyone

I have recently started mr first business analyst role. Having studied information systems I am no stranger to requirements specifications, I am however very rusty due to the fact I finished my degree 4 years ago and have not used it since!

I am in the middle of a class diagram and have the situation where:

I have a User class and there are three Classes that inherit the user class attributes

One of the classes that inherits the user classe, which i will call manager class for ease,  will also be reponsible for managing the other inherited user classes accesses.

Would it be sufficient to place +manageUserAccess () in the operation area in the manager class? how would I link this to the other user classes?

Any hellp anyone can give would be appreciated.

Re: Class Diagram help needed

Hi Sheri,

I don't really deal with the methods when I do class diagrams but if the three user classes inherit from the manager class, then they will inherit its atributes and its methods i.e. they will have their own instances of the manageUserAccess () method that you can then modify if required for that particular class. Does that help? I see you posted this a while ago so you've probably worked it out already anyway.

Re: Class Diagram help needed

Hi Kimbo

Thank you for replying.

I have worked the solution into my use case diagram rather than the class diagram. I think this is how I should have done it to start with. As I said I'm a bit rusty but am really enjoying getting my teeth sunk into information systems again.

Thank you for the help.

Sheri

As a Business Analyst, very often we get into a situation where the Project requires multiple IT Products to be evaluated before implementation and might seek Business Analyst’s recommendation for the same. What Does Success Look Like? I challenge Business Analysts to view requestors’ requirements as an opportunity to define success. Too often, teams fall into a trap focused on requestors’ prescriptive requirements that are meant to serve as roadmaps for developers and testers. When you limit your view of requirements to this prescripti...

They say the best criteria of Business Analyst’s success are a happy customer (business) and a happy engineering team. But what does it mean? How can we break down happiness and measure it? These are precisely the questions my 8 BAs team and I tried to answer this year. The result was a surprisingly efficient pair of surveys we developed and ...
