Business Systems Analyst - Technical Consultant Job Description
As a Business Systems Analyst - Technical Consultant you will be responsible for applying business knowledge and facilitative expertise to gathering business requirements with attention toward application and business processes. You will create technical requirements and designs for data movement and data mappings in support of Investments Technology applications.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provides business and application expertise through the analysis and synthesis of business requirements throughout the systems development lifecycle
  • Specifies technical requirements for application and processes and creates high level technical designs based on business and functional requirements, and systems architecture
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to junior staff members. Coach team members on SDLC and business partner relationships.
  • Independently lead and organize technical projects. Ability to act as senior business analyst and project manager on select projects.
  • Initiates and recommends improvements in applications, procedures, processes and documentation across multiple business areas
  • Initiates discussions and advocates a common approach to application and data management and procedure and process definitions for multiple business areas
  • Documents and communicates data definitions, proper usage, and security standards
  • Develops and utilizes tools and processes to drive application support management processes
  • Supports and contributes to module, integration and functional testing
  • Facilitates interviews, workshops, and other information gathering sessions

QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate should exhibit the following skills and abilities:
  • Business Requirements Definition - Demonstrated knowledge of business requirements definition in practical applications. Able to analyze business requirements to determine data processing flow, testing scenarios and user requirements.
  • Business Knowledge - Fundamental knowledge of capital markets, terminology and key data relationships: Fixed Income, Equities, Alternatives, Derivatives, and Real Estate investment instruments.
  • Business Systems Analysis - Ability to analyze business/financial data and troubleshoot application and data flows to achieve conclusions. Demonstrates critical thinking and speed to resolve issues.
  • Communication and Facilitation - Able to facilitate meetings and present findings through either prior training or direct experiences. Collaborates with internal team and with the business.

Technical Analysis Skills and Tools
  • Oracle: 3 - 5 years direct experience
  • .Net: 1 - 2 years direct experience
  • Unix Shell Scripting
  • Java Scripting

Experience:
  • 5 - 7 Years experience in financial institution, with 3-4 years in Investments/Capital Markets; focus in Risk, Portfolio Management, or Back Office processing a plus
  • Active participation on technology projects with a formal SDLC methodology(7- 10 years)
  • Facilitated meetings for associates of various levels of the organization
  • Experience with data query tools
  • College degree required with focus in MIS, Finance / Business, or Accounting
  • MBA, CFA (or other designations) desirable

    • Provide the Investments Compliance team with a list of investment accounts over which you have significant influence;
    • Provide consent, through a signed statement, allowing Investments Compliance to receive duplicate confirmations of transactions in such accounts;
    • Pre-clear through the Pre-Trade Clearing Process any personal security trades as will be further described upon employment. The Pre-Trade Clearing Process involves a check against a restricted security/issuer list, maintained by Investments Compliance, based on Allstate Investments' and Allstate's activities and dealings in the financial markets,
    • Answer certain compliance questions regarding any affiliations with investment advisers, violations of state or federal securities laws, or actions taken against you by securities regulators and,
    • Annually (and as otherwise required) confirm compliance with the Allstate Code of Ethics and the Allstate Investments Code of Conduct.
    • Provide Investments Compliance with a complete report of their current securities holdings in which the employee has, or acquires, any direct or indirect beneficial ownership. An employee is presumed to be a beneficial owner of securities that are held by his or her immediate "family members" sharing the individual's household. Household family members include married or common-law spouses, domestic partners, partners defined by civil union and resident dependent children.
