ANSWER

Business analysts can mitigate resistance to paradigm shifts by addressing both the emotional and rational sides of change.

Practical approaches:

  • Communicate early and often: Transparency reduces uncertainty.
  • Link benefits to stakeholder goals: Show “what’s in it for me.”
  • Pilot in small steps: Demonstrate success on a manageable scale.
  • Use data: Support proposals with clear evidence of improvement.

Resistance usually stems from fear of loss—of control, competence, or stability.  Analysts who empathize with that fear and respond with clarity build credibility.

By treating resistance as feedback rather than opposition, BAs turn skepticism into momentum.
