Visual thinking - anyone using it for requirements elicitation and communication?

I'm interested in knowing who is using diagramming, rich pictures and cartooning to take a more right brain, quick and creative approach at elicitation and communication.

Re: Visual thinking - anyone using it for requirements elicitation and communication?

Hi:

I do Agile bigger picture modeling (i.e., pictures).   Written text for requirements can be very wastefull.   Some data flow diagrams, ERD's, and screen shots is all that is needed.  (Details handle through informal communications.)

Why text does not work:  A system is a 3 dimensional entity, and written text is only 2 dimensional.

Also, diagramming with DFD's leads one through a logicical, natural partitioning.  Written text does not.

Re: Visual thinking - anyone using it for requirements elicitation and communication?

 Hi Tony.

Agile Bigger Picture Modelling is a new technqiue to me (I've found an example  here)  I work more on human activity processes that on the IT implementation side.  I occasionally use rich pictures for my own analysis and then present my analysis in the more conventional format that business prefers.
