 Hi Tony,

Of course it is. My point was that BPMN can do DFDs but it is much more versatile and expressive than just showing the flow of data.

JD,

There is a process modeling guide on the ModernAnalyst site that may be useful to you.  If you go to the Templates page and filter the list by Business Process Management (using hyperlink on the right side), there is a PDF guide called 'Simplified Process Mapping Methodology'.  It has examples of how to model as-is processes, how to identify improvements in creating the to-be, etc.  Very readable and well-organized.  You can download for free as a ModernAnalyst member.
