BA Career

I'm currently working as an IT Technical Recruiter and trying to switch my career in to BA. I had done a BA course initially and was not provided any certificate, but ended up working as a recruiter for past 4 years. Now i want to become a BA.

It would be great is some one can suggest me on how to apply and become a BA. I'm trying to learn more about MS Visio.  Should i have some business scenarios to work on MS Visio? I need guidance and help.

Thank you in advance

Re: BA Career

Switching from an IT Recruiter to BA can be tough.  Knowing more about your goals would help.

  • Why do you think you want to switch careers?
  • Do you understand the role of a BA well?
  • Do you know what skillset is typically required?
  • What kind of BA work do you think you would enjoy most?

In the end, you need to have some basic BA related skills to get a job and it will likely be entry level to get started.  Visio is just a tool.  Yes, it's used quite often in the BA world so understanding it can help, but first you need to understand the core of what a BA does.  Various forms of requirements elicitation and documentation are a must.  What was the course you took 4 years ago and what did it cover.  Do you have the course outline?
