Student Advice

In need of some guidance, from well established and engaged BA's.

I'd like to start out with my background information... I am a 3rd year student at Penn State, studying Information Sciences and Technology, with an option of "Integration and Application." I will soon be seeking full time employment as an analyst, but I need some realistic expectations and how to prepare for the future.

My fear: My GPA will not be "up to par" when competing with applicants in a big time company. I started out in a different major, hated it, switched, and I'm currently recovering a 2.7, hopeful I will have a 3.0+ by the ending of my senior year. How hard is it to obtain a BA position? Penn State is well renowned, and I believe that will ultimately help me in the long run.

My second question is, how hard would it be for me to obtain a position in a metropolitan area, such as Philadelphia or New York City? That is ultimately my goal, and I would like some feedback from people who have had similar goals. The interview is not my concern, it's GETTING the interview. I believe I will be able to sell myself. Any advice? In the future I am looking to advance as program or project manager.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I would suggest  you to just start your career with even an unpaid internship at small company  Positions you could target are junior business analyst, project coordinator, etc . I also suggest you do this certification of PMI to enhance chances of being hired.
