Data analytics is crucial because it allows businesses to make data-driven choices, increase operational efficiency, find opportunities, and gain a competitive advantage. Data analytics is important for several reasons:

Better Decision Making: Data analytics provides insights that can inform better decision making. By analyzing data, organizations can identify trends, patterns, and anomalies, which can help them make informed decisions that are backed by data rather than just relying on intuition.

Cost Savings: Data analytics can help organizations identify areas where they can save costs. For example, by analyzing energy consumption patterns, a company might discover that it can save money by adjusting its energy usage habits.

New Business Opportunities: Data analytics can help organizations identify new business opportunities. By analyzing customer behavior, market trends, and other data points, companies can develop new products or services that meet the needs of their customers.

Competitive Advantage: Data analytics can provide a competitive advantage. Organizations that use data analytics to make decisions can react faster and more effectively to changing market conditions than those that rely solely on gut instincts.

Improved Customer Experience: Data analytics can help organizations improve customer experiences. By analyzing customer behavior and preferences, companies can tailor their products and services to meet the specific needs of their customers, leading to higher satisfaction and loyalty.

Fraud Detection: Data analytics can help detect fraudulent activities within an organization. By monitoring transactions and identifying unusual patterns, companies can minimize financial losses due to fraud.

Cybersecurity: Data analytics can help improve cybersecurity. By analyzing network traffic and system logs, organizations can identify potential security threats and take action to prevent them before they cause damage.

Healthcare Improvements: In healthcare, data analytics can help improve patient outcomes. By analyzing medical records, clinical trials, and other health-related data, healthcare providers can identify effective treatments, reduce wasteful spending, and improve resource allocation.

Environmental Sustainability: Data analytics can help organizations become more environmentally sustainable. By analyzing energy consumption patterns, water usage, and waste production, companies can identify ways to reduce their environmental impact.

Scientific Discoveries: Data analytics can lead to scientific breakthroughs. By analyzing large amounts of data from various sources, researchers can identify patterns and connections that can lead to new scientific discoveries and advancements in fields such as medicine, astronomy, and climate science.

I am about to start my Data Analytics Boot Camp study to get a certificate; but since my degree is not related to this field (Master's degree in Agriculture) I wonder what my chances are to get a job?

Hi Everyone, I have a question about YTD for 3 years. I have stock prices from 1st day of 2020 to present day of 2022 for some companies and i have to calculate YTD for these companies. How can i do this? I think that i can do three calculations of YTD for each companies:

1. ((last day of 2020 - first day of 2020) / first day 2020) *100

2. ((last day of 2021 - first day of 2020) / first day 2020)*100

3. ((current day of 2022 - first day of 2020) / first day 2020)*100

Will this calculation be correct to show how the company has changed from early 2020 to today?

Hi All

Looking for a little bit of help and I think I am probably over thinking the question.

It's been proposed that holiday allowance will be increased by 2 days for all employees - the question that I've been asked is what this will do to our headcount, will we lose too many days and need to hire more staff or should we be able to cope with current headcount.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Like many I have been using ER and/or UML Class Diagrams to model data entities as logical objects before passing those designs to DBAs who build physical schema in a relational database SQL Server/Oracle etc.

I haven't until now worked with a NoSQL database (eg MongoDB) as the target implementation and I am just wondering if it changes the paradigm of analysis and design at all?

Since with a NoSQL database you can nest document schemas within documents...

..is there any difference in the methodology of Data Modelling? In short - is ER data modelling the best practice for all types of target db, or are there alternatives?

Any thoughts, recommendations, resources etc would be gratefully received.

Hi Experts,

I am working on 100+ reports and used Power Query to create a table that shows each header in the spread sheet is used as data. Here is a sample problem health report say Covid reports. There are 6 spreadsheets with data on Covid, so I got a table which report uses what header (Table) likewise there are other health reports having common headers. I need an idea of what tool and how to co-relate

Each of these spreadsheets are output from various systems and databases. Once I get the common links between each of the headers in the spread sheet, I will map them to the systems and create matrix.

Further details on Covid spreadsheets Repart 1

1.ID, 2. Place 3. vaccine status 4. Partial flag

Report 2: 1. ID 2. Name 3. GP/ Nurse name 4. ID of the GP/Nurse 5. Batch No

Repoert 3: 1. ID, 2. Name, 3. Address 1, 4. Address 2, Region, State. etc

Now I have a matrix of all the above spreadsheets and who is using what headers,, using power query. I need your help to visualize this into a meaningful story so I can use it for 100s of spreadsheets I need to analyze.

Hello All, I'm a new member at this website and in the process of applying to go to school and study DA. As part of my application, I need to conduct an informational interview with a professional in my field of interest.

It's pretty cut-and-dried; I've got a list of 5 questions to ask. We can interview face to face or by phone (I'll be responsible for any long-distance phone calls of course).

Hope to hear from someone soon . . . and, I hope this is an appropriate question for this forum? As mentioned, I am a newb : \ I will also post this in the Getting Started Forum, although I see 'Business Analysis' there more than I see 'Data Analysis.'

Thanks very much!

Hi All

I am trying to understand mix analysis properly and how to calculate variances from FC to Actuals. This example is based on services, this could be any service but we will go with Car Sales being the Product and the service being a car wash taken out at the time of purchase.

There are 3 variables. Price, Volume of cars sold and Uptake of the service. Price, volume and uptakes could change from FC to Actuals through several means but the variance analysis is the key point here.

I have attached a google sheet an example of how I can get from FC to Actual Income through 4 different methods, all of which I believe are wrong.

I'm looking for a solution to properly perform variance analysis for these 3 variables from FC to Actual Income.

Let me know if you can help!

Thanks

What i am really struggling with is a way to look at my operations and find projects to uncover efficiencies. Can you recommend strategies for improvement?
