Hello.

 Hello!

I've been poking around the Modern Analyst forums, and I like what I'm seeing.  I decided to join up, and I hope to contribute to the community from what limited expertise I have, as well as glean knowledge from the rest of you.

Professionally, I'm a data analyst/researcher, specifically of the customer insights variety.  I work for a very large technology company with a huge online presence.  (Like, if you were to name 5 - 10 companies off the top of your head, you'd probably name mine.)  As far as skillset goes, I'd say I have a moderate-to-advanced level of knowledge in Teradata databases, SQL in general, Excel, and Tableau.  I've recently started playing around with R, Hadoop (and therefore Pig), and Java.

On a personal note, I'm married to the love of my life, and we have 50% custody of our combined Brady Bunch-esque slew of 5 impossibly blonde children.  In my spare time (ha!) I really, really love to read.  Like...really.  Bibliophile extraordinaire.  I'm also really into number and logic puzzles (like Rubik's Cube).  Additionally, I've occasionally been known to become hopelessly obsessed with a video game here and there (Borderlands, anyone?)  Oh, and I'm basically the undefeated Scrabble champion, except on the rare occasions that my husband beats me...then he's sleeping on the couch.  (I kid.  Mostly.)

Look forward to getting to know you and learning from you all.

As Business Analysts in Agile teams, we often hear about Definition of Ready (DOR) and Definition of Done (DOD). But beyond the buzzwords, these two concepts are powerful tools to drive clarity, consistency, and quality in our work. Definition of Ready ensures a user story is truly ready for development. It answers: Is this story clear, feasible...
In today's fast-paced digital world, successful projects aren't just built on great code—they're built on clarity. And that clarity often comes from one key player: the Business Analyst. At the heart of every great product or system is a need—a business goal, a customer pain point, or a regulatory requirement. But busines...
I have always loved cooking. I learned from my Grandma June and her kitchen was her sanctuary, a small, warm sunlit space filled with jars of spices, stacks of cookbooks, and the comforting smell of something always on the stove or baking in the oven. Grandma June was as great a cook as she was a teacher to me. She never followed a recipe “to...
