Android Development Training for BAs?
Hi Folks! New to the forum here. A little background for my scenario is that we are a technology company in the aviation retail space and we are making the transition from devices on the Windows CE platform to Android. With this changes will come different needs of developers as they will require different kinds of information. Is there any good training seminars or conferences that could be beneficial for my BA team to attend to get a better grasp of working within the Android development world? We are looking for growing our technical knowledge of what we can do with this new platform and to better be able to communicate effectively with an Android dev team. Any suggestions would be useful for us to explore. My suggestions to go to an Enterprise Mobility Conference has been met with lukewarm enthusiasm.

Ryan,

If I were looking for such specific information I would look for Whitepapers and/or Webinars on the topic to start building my knowledge base.  Try doing a search on www.DigiBytes.com to see what you might find.  The resources are free.

I would agree that an Enterprise Mobility Conference could be helpful for this, but companies hate spending money in this environment.

Re: Android Development Training for BAs?
Hi Chris! Thanks for the link to digiBytes. I'll begin browsing to see what I might find. The challenge I'm facing at getting the team onboard with the Enterprise Mobility Conference is not funding, but perception. One of my biggest challenges is fighting the inertia behind the statement that "the airlines industry is different". Every industry vertical has its unique challenges, so pointing that out isn't as useful as the alternative. An example would be pointing out key factors to consider like "well, the airlines industry is different because the transfer of data at 30,000 feet has different costs and challenges than on the ground". That's understandable, but waiting for a conference that specifically tailors to developing in android, for the airline industry, in an easy format, with information that would benefit us BA's is a bit of a pipe dream.

Ryan,

I'm in complete agreement with your perspective on this.  It's an unfortunate truth that every industry thinks they are too different to benefit from the generalized information available in the market.  It's up to business analyst to take these differences into consideration and apply general knowledge in a specific way.

As Business Analysts in Agile teams, we often hear about Definition of Ready (DOR) and Definition of Done (DOD). But beyond the buzzwords, these two concepts are powerful tools to drive clarity, consistency, and quality in our work. Definition of Ready ensures a user story is truly ready for development. It answers: Is this story clear, feasible...
In today's fast-paced digital world, successful projects aren't just built on great code—they're built on clarity. And that clarity often comes from one key player: the Business Analyst. At the heart of every great product or system is a need—a business goal, a customer pain point, or a regulatory requirement. But busines...
I have always loved cooking. I learned from my Grandma June and her kitchen was her sanctuary, a small, warm sunlit space filled with jars of spices, stacks of cookbooks, and the comforting smell of something always on the stove or baking in the oven. Grandma June was as great a cook as she was a teacher to me. She never followed a recipe “to...
