The Australian Business Analysis Competency Framework (ABACF) provides the business analysis profession with an opportunity to assess business analysis skills, techniques and experiences against an accessible matrix of expected competencies. The ABACF is due for release in June 2009.

 

Freely available through the Australian Business Analysis Association (ABAA) the ABACF is based on the International Institute of Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK) and has been developed through a series of engagement workshops involving input from Australian government agencies, private corporations, training organisations, and peak industry bodies.

Nationally, for first time employers will be able to use the ABACF to understand the competency levels of their existing business analysts and prospective business analyst employees. The ABACF defines three levels of accreditation which are attainable through an assessment process based on evidence of practical experience, training, reference checks and interviews.
