Hello Everyone,

As more organizations move their software to the cloud, managing and optimizing costs becomes a critical aspect of ensuring financial efficiency. Cloud computing offers flexibility and scalability, but without proper cost management, expenses can quickly spiral out of control.

Discussion Overview:

In this thread, let&#39;s explore various strategies and best practices for effectively managing and optimizing costs associated with cloud-based software. Whether you&#39;re a seasoned cloud architect, a developer, or an IT manager, your insights and experiences are invaluable.

Key Points to Discuss:

Cost Monitoring and Analysis:

What tools and platforms do you recommend for monitoring and analyzing cloud costs?

How frequently should organizations review their cloud spending to identify potential savings?

Resource Optimization:

What are the best practices for optimizing resource allocation to avoid over-provisioning and underutilization?

How can organizations leverage auto-scaling to align resource usage with demand?

Reserved Instances and Savings Plans:

How do reserved instances and savings plans work, and when should organizations consider using them?

What are the potential risks and benefits of committing to long-term contracts with cloud providers?

Cost-Effective Architecture Design:

What design principles should be followed to build cost-effective cloud architectures?

How can serverless architectures and microservices contribute to cost savings?

Tagging and Cost Allocation:

How can tagging be used to track and allocate cloud costs to specific projects, departments, or teams?

What are the best practices for implementing a tagging strategy across an organization?

Rightsizing and Termination Policies:

How do you determine the right size for cloud resources to balance performance and cost?

What policies should be in place for terminating unused or underutilized resources?

Third-Party Tools and Services:

Are there any third-party tools or services that you have found effective in managing cloud costs?

How do these tools integrate with your existing cloud infrastructure?

Case Studies and Real-World Examples:

Can you share a case study or real-world example where your organization successfully optimized cloud costs?

What lessons were learned, and what strategies proved most effective?

Join the Conversation:

Share your strategies, tools, and experiences in managing and optimizing cloud costs. Let&#39;s collaborate to identify best practices and innovative solutions that can help organizations make the most of their cloud investments.

Looking forward to your contributions and insights!

Hi All -

We have been building Akkio (www.akkio.com) to enable Analysts to quickly extract value from their data. In just a few steps you can surface the patterns in your historical data (driving factor analysis, etc) and easily deploy those models in your existing workflows for real time data driven decision making. We do classification, regression and time series models - and the platform is open so anyone can sign up for a trial, upload some test data and take it for a spin.

Im one of the co-founders, and lead the product team - would really appreciate any feedback from the community on any of our features (data prep, insight analysis, model operations). You can reach me direcly at jon@akk.io or here.

Thanks in advance for any and all feedback!

Hello everyone,

I'm new to this forum and business analysis. My team and I are working on several projects and we've been having issues using quickbooks InfusionSoft for our company operations (financial management, sales management, intelligence analysis etc). Aside integrating these two software, is there any other software, that you might be familiar with, that can entirely do the work of both software for a mid size company? (Quickbooks InfusionSoft seem to have worked for us when we were a relatively small sized company but not as we would it like it to now that the company is grown?)

I would be glad to hear your thoughts

PS: Once again, I'm new to this forum and I'm sorry if my question might not be a pure business analysis-related question or if the question may have not been consistent to the rules of the forum.

Lost my job due to covid because no concerts means no audio guys are needed. So I&#39;m quitting weed while I look for bullshit desk jobs, and yeeting my weed money into the market because **** it, was gonna go up in smoke anyways.

So now that I have time on my hands, what are good software options for market analysis ? I used a little Sas, Spss, and R in college. I have nothing but time and the power of autism on my side.

Hey there!

My name is Clemens and I&#39;m currently working at Kausa. We&#39;re a BI startup in the augmented analytics domain, that is working on automating data exploration and helping companies understanding why exactly their KPIs are changing.

Key features include:

Identify which subgroups drive your KPI changes within a minute. This allows you to focus on interpreting the results instead of spending hours slicing and dicing or playing around with filters in dashboards.

Get full confidence in your analyses. The AI-powered algorithm tests all potential hypotheses, ensuring that you don&#39;t miss an insight you didn&#39;t find the time to explore. Moreover, it also helps to reduce human biases.

Connect directly to your data warehouse (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery). Get automated KPI change detection and ensure you always act up the newest data.

Collaborate with your team members. Our platform allows you to tag people on key insights and notify them via mail or slack.

We&#39;re currently giving out free early access, so make sure to sign up on our page! Also looking forward to hearing your feedback :)

Hi All,

I am working in an Oil/ Gas plant and we use SAP tool such like Workplace/ ISSoW&#160;etc... to manage work being carried out on the plant.

I am looking into other SAP integrated software which would benefit us.

Also - when work is being carried out we document a risk assessment is ISSoW but as everywhere the drawing office are slow to be notified of any changes. It it crucial that the drawing office always have up to date drawings of the plant, cabling etc... and wondered what you would put in place to make sure the drawing office are always informed of work which must be documented.

Recently there has been many discussions in the media about Web 2.0 yet, with the exception of a handfull of project management tools, there aren't many browser based and feature rich tools for the business analyst or systems analyst.

Recently I discovered 'http://www.gliffy.com/' target=_blank>Gliffy, a browser-based tool for creating diagrams.

You can check it out at:

Folks,

Sorry if the questions has been asked in the past.

I`m new to the forum and so to the Business Analyst domain.

Wish to understand Business Analyst and take up the BA role in the coming future.

I currently work as a Solution Architect (Infrastructure) and wish to have a career change.

Thus would like to know what are the tools required for BA to get better into their role?

Any information will be of great help!

Hi,

We just launched a new online diagramming tool that generates flowcharts based on text. As a BA, I always thought that doing diagrams with traditional tools was too long just because we need to format shapes, position or connect them. So I wanted a tool that allows to write down my ideas and generates a professional looking diagram for me. This is what I have decided to build with textografo. We are in beta and we would really like to get feedback from the BA community. Just go to <a rel='nofollow' href='https://app.textografo.com/sign-up?utm_source=ezine utm_medium=web utm_content=modernanalyst utm_campaign=pr1' target='_blank'>textografo.com and create a (free) account. That would be great to know what you think about it. Thanks!

<br class='Apple-interchange-newline'
Wouldn't it be cool if teams could use less tools and get more apps delivered to internal clients?

I've found a few clunky looking platforms pointing in the right direction (like 'https://sparxsystems.com/'>https://sparxsystems.com/) but is this the best of a bad bunch?

Imagine a platform that BA can use for Requirements Gathering from internal clients, then use that same platform working with Front-End design/development (using an internal components library pre-approved by back-end so it requires less input from back-end department) and thus deliver internal facing business applications (line of business) fast to reduce the backlog.

To me it makes total sense. Keen to hear supporting and opposing views. Heads of Internal App Development must have infinite backlogs in some cases.

How could a BA tool actually help deliver functional internal apps to help relieve that pressure on the Dev department?
