Business Analyst

Dear All, Should we as a company employ a full-time business analyst (BA) or hire an external one? This has been argued vehemently as the topics for hiring a full time analyst were such like: cheaper than external BA; internal BA might have knowledge of how the company functions/activities works etc, hence develop Functional specifications quicker. The topics against having a full-time BA were like the BA might lack/not employ the best design interface or even lack innovative design skills for system design etc., The external BA might bring vast experience. I really want to see you views. It seems that my colleagues tried to argue that the functional specification should be written by the external software house who 'must have the experience and best knowledge'. How many users are usually part of UAT?

Hello, What advice do others have about how many people should be involved in UAT testing if there are hundreds of users? I typically have worked on smaller projects where only a core group of users were involved in UAT but they represented the 80% of the use case and were part of the requirements process/project team from the start. I prefer this representative approach because it's easier to manage - with too many testers you get duplicate issues and a wide range of feedback from some who don't know how the tool works to something that contradicts the core teams requirement, etc. Would just love some thoughts on properly sizing how many users are actually in the UAT. Thanks!

The designation of the Chartered Financial Analyst or CFA® Charter is the most recognized and respected credential in the field of investment banking. It is a globally recognized credential. There are three levels in CFA® Program that students will have to go through. Based on the historical data, pass rate for the CFA® examination is about forty percent. There is a wide range of topics related to investment management, stocks, derivatives, financial analysis which give you great understanding of everything you need in order to become a better Financial Analyst/Investment banker. CFA® Level I Exam : This is the first examination that students will have to go through. In level one, students will have to focus on the concepts and tools that are applied to investment management and valuation. The CFA® Level 1 exam is conducted in two sessions, each 3 hours long. It consists of 240 multiple-choice questions in two sessions of 120 questions each. The questions are designed based on the topic weightages given in the CFA® Level 1 Exam Syllabus, with very slight deviation. Format of the CFA Level 1 Exam The CFA Level 1 Exam consists of 240 multiple-choice questions and is divided into two sessions, with 120 questions asked in the three-hour morning session and 120 in the three-hour afternoon session. In need of some guidance, from well established and engaged BA's. I'd like to start out with my background information... I am a 3rd year student at Penn State, studying Information Sciences and Technology, with an option of 'Integration and Application.' I will soon be seeking full time employment as an analyst, but I need some realistic expectations and how to prepare for the future. My fear: My GPA will not be 'up to par' when competing with applicants in a big time company. I started out in a different major, hated it, switched, and I'm currently recovering a 2.7, hopeful I will have a 3.0+ by the ending of my senior year. How hard is it to obtain a BA position? Penn State is well renowned, and I believe that will ultimately help me in the long run. My second question is, how hard would it be for me to obtain a position in a metropolitan area, such as Philadelphia or New York City? That is ultimately my goal, and I would like some feedback from people who have had similar goals. The interview is not my concern, it's GETTING the interview. I believe I will be able to sell myself. Any advice? In the future I am looking to advance as program or project manager. Thanks in advance for any feedback.
