Hello,

I am MBA in Marketing had previous experience of 4 yrs in the same field and had a maternity break. I am aspiring to become a Business Analyst and found preparing for ECBA would help. My query is

- Getting ECBA certification is the right approach?

- While preparing for ECBA is it advisable to also prepare for Agile certification?

-If I am specifically looking for IT Business Analysis role than what more steps I should take in this particular situation.

Hi

I started as a developer and moved into BA world. I have been BA for close to 10 years now. I was working with a small team who hardly as a separate testing team - PM, BA, Dev team and business.

Recently I moved to work in a large programme (bank) where I work with a lot of BAs and I feel their knowledge is much more broader than me in terms of understanding the stakeholders in a programme and different forums, sign offs involved etc. I also started thinking about BA career and wondering how I can understand a programme, how senior leadership works in bank (as I always been with a small team within a bank). As next step how can I become a business architect? will it be like starting from scratch if I become business architect?

Thanks in advance for your time.

Regards,

Hi all

Looking for some ideas to help facilitate a proposal / discussion.   The overarching question from client is ';is the system we have now fit for purpose or do we need another?';

Appreciate you wont know the detail but Im looking for ideas on areas for comparison.

I have looked into current pain points and the clients requirements and the current system could almost certainly be extended to support them. Im obviously aware COST will be a factor. TIME to deliver these changes would be another. Im hoping some of you great analysts have some tips on framing such a comparison / decision :)

Hi All,

I need some serious advice from all you senior BAs.

I started as a s/w programmer and moved to sales marketing function primarily in the IT services industry. Later on in my current organization, I was offered the job of a BA to work with our customer who is a leader in outsource contact center management provide inbound and outbound sales and marketing services to its customers across industry verticals. I've worked on couple of projects (not core CRM implementation) with this client and have gained sound exposure in the sales and marketing processes including some process redesign work. Have demonstrated quantifiable results. Now I want to move on for better opportunities and better money. My concern is that though I've am quite strong on the process side of CRM I don't have any functional consulting experience on CRM packages (i.e Oracle, Siebel, MS Dynamics etc.). Do you guys think, this could become a major roadblock in my hope to chart a career in the CRM space? Please advise....

Hi all!

My name is Zack Martin. I have spent about 15 years working for a Fortune 100, working my way up from an hourly in-store employee through college into a Senior Supply Chan Analyst role prior to leaving the company last month.

I am now working for a startup who is building a tool to help analysts get a head start on data challenges, resurface what&#39;s worked well for them in the past, and clarify requests from business stakeholders. All of this is powered by AI and designed to integrate with the business&#39; systems to achieve this.

I&#39;m just here to connect with analysts, learn about industries outside of my previous industry (retail) and hope to be a good resource for others.

My LinkedIn is 'https://www.linkedin.com/in/zwmartin/' target='_blank'>here if anyone would like to connect there as well.

Hello,

I am having a confusion between the practical definition of a Requirement, Requirement Acceptance Criteria and the Testing Acceptance Criteria.

I understand what each definition means, however, an acceptance criteria to me re-states the workflow that must be followed to consider a user story done, for example:

This is a user story that says

As a content editor, I would like to update the content of my product, so that I keep the customers aware of the latest special offers.

The Requirement Acceptance Criteria could be:

Ensure the content owner is able to :

Log in to the Content Management System

    Edit the current price

    Set up the offer timeframe

However, such acceptance criteria does re-instate the Functionality Workflow, does not it? In that case what is the difference between this and a Requirement?

Other people would say that an acceptance criteria for this feature is simply as this:

Ensure that 8 out of 10 users are capable to edit the product details in less 4 click interaction.

So which one is the best written acceptance criteria? Do you write it based on the Testing View or the Requirement View?

Many Thanks for your kind advice

&#160;I am consulting to a company that needs to purchase Medical billing software that will also support payroll given unique business rules. I worked through the requirements with the company and authored a detailed RFP which has gone out to Vendors of Off the Shelf Systems. The client wants to go with custom software if we can't find an adequate OTS solution and for a variety of reasons, I fear there's only a 60/40 chance that an OTS solution will emerge. My question: Does anyone know of good resources/methodologies for evaluating custom software development companies. I could send out a similar RFP to the one above but I fear the companies in question would just say, 'yeah, we can do that' and I wouldn't have a good way (outside of asking for references, financial stability, project managment experience...) to choose the few companies to focus on. Alternatively, I've thought about sending out an RFI that would just focus on organizational strengths and experiences then provide each company with my requirements (in the form of written 'The system shall...', user stories and diagrams) and ask each company to provide a white paper indicating how they would solve the problem (including communication processes, software development processes... I would then rate them based on who I believed and get them to demo similar software and follow up on references. In this latter approach, I would invite (and pay expenses?) for them to come to us so we could see how they do requirements validation. Any thoughts on alternative approaches or modifications/pitfalls to the approaches I laid out above would be greatly appreciated.&#160;

I&#39;m trying to understand the different between a user story and a requirement. Is there a hierachy like the requirements come first and then user stories created in the backlog. Maybe I&#39;m confusing myself but always thought the user stories are just a way of representing a requirement and then acceptance criteria is the functional aspect? But then unsure how this relates to a product requirements document?I often hear that agile doesn&#39;t mean you don&#39;t have a requirements document,so how does that relate and interact with the user stories? I Would really appreciate some input to how everyone structures and approaches the documentation of requirements in agile.

Hi everyone! I&rsquo;m currently exploring solutions to prevent bad crypto from being received in our wallet. While the KYT provider can likely verify the transaction&rsquo;s legitimacy, this typically happens only after the transaction has been received, which could result in the wallet being flagged as high risk. Another aspect of the issue is that even if we run a KYT check once the crypto is in our wallet, I still need a mechanism to return the exact crypto to the sender, especially when there are multiple transactions that have passed the KYT check. I&rsquo;d appreciate any solutions or ideas you may have!

Hi all,

I have a question for my experienced fellows business analysts.

I'm studying business analysis and got confused recently.

Forgive me my ignorance, but I don't quite understand how a business analyst position fit into an agile driven project.

I mean, what would be BA's responsibilities in real world situation in real world company in the real world agile project?

How would they be different from those in classic Waterfall SDLC?

Is a BA position needed in agile SDLC at all?

I heard the opinion that 'Scrum killed BAs'. Is this statement correct?

If somebody had the pleasure to work in both Waterfall and Agile methodologies as a BA, her/his advice would be priceless.

Thank you in advance!

Most sincerely,

Alex

I recently landed a job as a BA at a large university, and I'm new to the field but I&#160;have background in IT&#160;systems administration. I'm being put on a new project and would appreciate some advice. I&#160;need to research and discover workflow maangement systems that allow my organization to design and manage workflows. One such product I'm aware of is Sungard (banner) Workflow, which allows users to move information or forms along a path to achieve a desired goal.

<p style='font-size: 12px; color: rgb(64, 63, 63); text-align: -webkit-left; background-color: rgb(246, 246, 246); '>Some basic requirements&#160;(we're very early in the process, so requirements are scarce):

<p style='font-size: 12px; color: rgb(64, 63, 63); text-align: -webkit-left; background-color: rgb(246, 246, 246); '>1. The product would need to world with Java, web services, and oracle/sql in order to communicate with our existing systems.

<p style='font-size: 12px; color: rgb(64, 63, 63); text-align: -webkit-left; background-color: rgb(246, 246, 246); '>2. Example of a simple use case: Workflows can be designed to interact with workers/approvers to automatically/manually move forward a process. For example, user1 submits document via web, user2 approves and adds document, and finally it is finished. The software should be able to keep track of the processes for everyone, so workers can keep track of the work and other users such as submitters/managers can see how the process is going. Processes also need to interact with our oracle/sql dbs and cold fusion envrionment.

<p style='font-size: 12px; color: rgb(64, 63, 63); text-align: -webkit-left; background-color: rgb(246, 246, 246); '>Does anyone know of other popular products? Also, in what way would you present the findings?&#160;Have a matrix to show all the business/functional/technical requirements, and how well each product fit our needs?&#160;What other artifacts can I consider?

<p style='font-size: 12px; color: rgb(64, 63, 63); text-align: -webkit-left; background-color: rgb(246, 246, 246); '>Thanks a lot in advance!

So, I have SQL on my resume because ive used it in the past in Access. On the interview, they asked me a few questions like what right join is, etc. asked me to describe what a relational dabatase is, primary key, foreign key, etc

i know the basics so i obviously passed that part. But, i havent used it much in the past other than very basic statements.

The job would be a position where i would go into the database and query out ad hoc request in SQL Server. Alot of the common request are already prebuilt. The job would start in 5 weeks. Currently, just finished up a contracted position, so without income and this position is a pretty solid in at a big company.

So, my quesiton is. could i learn enough in 5 weeks to query the basic ad hoc request out of SQL Server or is this too big of a risk.
