I have some of the following questions:
- Does a Freelance BA have good job propects?
- Can I start as a freelance BA after 5 yrs of work ex?
- What kind of extra skills will i have to aquire if i want to freelance?
- Is MBA necessary to be a BA? My current qualification is MS in Software Engineering.
Thanks in advance
Hi Nikita and welcome to Modern Analyst!
- Does a Freelance BA have good job propects? GB: Depends on the country and when you are talking about. Recently here in the UK job prospects have been very good, but this week there is nothing. - Can I start as a freelance BA after 5 yrs of work ex? GB: 5 years telecom experience is great. - What kind of extra skills will i have to aquire if i want to freelance? GB: Analysis skills around elicitation, categorisation and control of objectives and requirements. You will probably find some of the articles here of interest especially the one called "So you want to be a Business Analyst" - Is MBA necessary to be a BA? My current qualification is MS in Software Engineering. GB: Not in the UK. There are no official qualifications that you MUST have. Employers here always look for experience of analysis in their industry first, a good degree second and third and only sometimes a preference for a BA qualification such as ISEB Diploma in Business Analysis. So go for it and good luck! If you would like me to review your CV and suggest how you can slant it to BA contact me through my website. Guy
