Artificial Intellegence and Other Emerging Technologies

What is the current role that artificial intelligence plays in ones role as a BA at the moment? Are these projects still limited or the vast majority within the field? What are recruiters looking for when it comes to background? Are  companies with emerging technologies using artificial intelligence and neuro software increasing at a fast rate or slow rate? Interested what possible social media technologies might be emerging too. Are they exclusive to Silicon Valley and the Seattle/Eastside area?

Re: Artificial Intellegence and Other Emerging Technologies

You are asking some very broad questions...

Artificial intelligence is making a strong comeback with the advent of smart devices coupled with voice interfaces.  I would say that the recruiters are looking either for experience or for education - you have to have something to get your foot in the door with an AI project.  The run of the mill business analyst will not have a good chance landing such a job.

My advice to you is to educate yourself and get your hands dirty on a project - even if you have to do it for free.

Wishing you the best!

Adrian

Let me start by saying that a business rule is far more granular than a business decision, and that the two should never be confused. Today, it is an unfortunate fact that some vendors would have potential clients believe that there is synergy between business rules and business decisions. Perhaps this is because in an effort to differentiate one b...

Traceability is one of the lesser understood aspects of business analysis. It is indeed quite hard to maintain good traceability unless automated. Most IT jobs have a clear, specific job description and career path. However, the business analyst career path tends to vary, as do the descriptions from job to job. The business analyst career path is best. Because, “There are career tracks that zigzag back and forth between IT and business. Someone might start as a business analyst, and the...
