Given your current role, it looks like you are in a good position. The other part of the equation is aptitude and likes/dislikes. You should take a look, if you have not done so already, at the types of tasks typically performed by a business analyst and determine if that is the type of work that you would like to do and that you would be good at.
I'll let you decide you likes and dislikes. On the aptitude side you need to consider if you have or are willing to gain great communication skills, great analytical/critical thinking skills, as well as problem solving skills. These skills would serve as the foundation for the BA career. Then you can begin to acquire knowledge of specific method, techniques, methodologies, and tools which are commonly used by business analysts such as: Vision Document, Requirements Document, UML Diagram, Process Flows, etc.
