A number of BA's are pursuing the recently created IIBA Certification (International Institute of Business Analysts). Some PSA's (Production Support Analysts), feel that ITIL certification is more appropriate for those more involved with production support, change control, etc. What do you think?

Re: BA or PSA? and suitable certification/training? ITIL is a solid framework with plenty of potential t imrpve IT service management. if you are in that space, certification or not, read up on it and take advantage of the knowledge base.

Like any other problem analysts face, I would strongly recommend that you1. define what the problem/opportunity/need/whatever is you are trying to address (WHY do you feel qualification is needed)2. define what measures you can monitor (and the target values) that will define that the problem HAS been addressed/opportunity exploited/need met/whatever whatever (objectives)3. if you are going to try to affect those measures to that extent, WHAT do you need to do to do that (requirements analysis)NOW you should be in a position to be able to PROVE that you need certain qualifications or not as the case may be - and then do the detailed analysis to achieve whatever it is you have proved must be achieved to fix the problem/exploit the opportunity/satisfy the need/whatever.Hope that helps!
